Odd Couple

This is a waaaay long shot taken in a 25 mile per hour wind (note to self: bulk up those arms, woman!).  I was just giving my best effort to focusing anywhere in the general vicinity of the hawk and clicking like crazy.  I didn't even see his little buddy until I pulled the pictures off the camera.

He's keeping his enemy closer....

I think G Man is right. There are a pair of red-winged blackbirds who nest in the same tree every spring. They will dive bomb anyone who walks near, buzzing right past their ear from behind, and I have seen them several times hassling a big old hawk. The fly behind him and bug the hell out of him until he leaves. They are fearless little birds!

So when do you start the weight training then? ;)

I'm surprised to see that little bird sitting that close to him! He could become his next meal in just a flash! I love hawks, but hate when they snag my songbirds.

I know exactly how you felt. Am shooting a lot of birds for teh birdblog. And half of the time it comes out like this. That little fella seems curisous about the other two. :)

Well, it may have been windy, but either your arms are stronger than you think or your camera has a nice built in anti-shake feature as this is a clear photo.
