Have you heard about Face Time? Apparently, it's an app that allows you to make video calls from your iPhone (or iPad or whatever i-type device you've got). It's been out for a while, but I wouldn't have known (or cared) a thing about it if I hadn't hear about it in whispered bedtime conversation.
"Mom says I have to go. Um, call me back at 11:35."
Oh, no. Hell, no. I'm pretty lax in the discipline department, but I do have a couple of rules, and a big one is "thou shalt not sneak." Mama sees all.
But, I played it cool, and didn't make a big deal of it. Actually, I didn't even mention it all. When I tucked her in, I simply told her that I trusted her and that it would be a very bad thing to ever lose my trust. It was a beautiful parenting moment.
Then, I went to bed and slept with a ringing iPad under my pillow. I guess you can call that app Pillow Time.

Tee Hee! The wonders of technology!
LOL you didn't want to see who was on the other end?
smiles...that is security....
Baby Puppy has an I-Phone?
We have ipads, iphones and laptops hidden under beds and cupboards all over the house. Not that we don't trust our kids, of course.
It rings?
:)
AMAZING!!!!!
LOVE THIS!
You did the right thing!
Mama sees all.
"MAMA" knows best! Yep!
oh lordie...
What a hoot! Jeez! "way back when", my kids were Baby Puppys age, there were only two phones and they were in the house - one in the kitchen and one in the basement -- no private calls in their rooms. In fact there weren't that many private calls period! Ah, how the world has changed! Have to admit I'm glad I raised them when I did and not now!!

Well it's better than pillow talk eh? ;)
Pretty smart of you, MZ.
My only "i" things are an older iPhone and older iPod...neither of which have the face time capability. Suits me. I really don't want to see folks!
Wait... she has a phone?
lol parents have different problems today. When my son was going into gr 8 the girls were already doing strip tease on the phones in the bathrooms while taking baths. This got around to other schools and it wasn't a good thing to know.
I mean my son wasn't interested yet or even knew why they were doing this.
The boys told their moms about the girls and then you are left with:
Do I tell the parents of these girls and be seen as the bad guy??
It's a question you tell them it's no good and if you don't tell them it's no good.I didn't tell them until they began telling me the guys were always hanging by their houses which is what I didn't like because they would let the boys into the girls bedrooms.
I taught my son it's inappropriate for a boy to be in a girls room.
It's hard to keep a boy indoors when the girls are displaying things on their phones and computers. lol
glad that's all over with whew!
Oh man, that's going to be one of our rules. No computers and no television in the bedroom. Uh uh. No way.
Ha. (Facetime is actually pretty cool. But so is pillow time.) K.
These are the sorts of things that make me happy to still just be dealing with a one year old that unwraps all my bouillon cubes and little boys that fight over mind reading abilities. Technology scares me. :)
Well done!
Haha that is pretty funny! I always wondered how my mom knew everything!!!! ;)
How sneaky of you :)
A ringing iPad?? LOL.
I do sleep with one next to me, just in case I wake up in the middle of the night and want to check on what's new. LOL.
That is a GREAT story!!! Love it.
