As I was unbuckling her carseat, Baby Puppy said, "I like soldiers."
"I do, too," I replied. "Soldiers are very strong and brave."
"I wish Daddy was a soldier," said my beautiful, innocent child.
"Oh, I'm glad Daddy's not a soldier," I blurted out without really thinking.
"But, Daddy's strong and brave," an obviously puzzled Baby Puppy reminded me.
"Yes, he is," I answered, a little more carefully. "And, soldiers do wonderful things for us. But, if Daddy was a soldier, he might have to be gone for a long time. And, sometimes it would be very dangerous. I'm glad Daddy is not a soldier."
And, I wish that all of the brave, strong soldiers could come home.
I was very, very honored to receive this award from Petra Michelle:
