Welcome To My Home

Hello. Come right in.

Welcome to my home.

I see that you've noticed my lovely jack o' lantern.

Why, yes, it is only mid-September.

But, tell that to Target.

Tell that to Walmart.

Then, tell that to Baby Puppy.

We have a halloween "spider" hanging from our kitchen light - from last halloween... we never took it down... out of sight out of mind?

Cute! Even before Labor, I noticed all of the stores putting out Halloween and Thanksgiving items. I love decorating for the holidays, but these stores are driving me crazy - it's too soon!

I feel your pain. My son has been BEGGING me for a costume for two weeks now.

We are going this weekend to see what we can find. I am dreading it because he will want to look at, touch, sniff, every thing and then he STILL won't be able to make up his mind.

I miss the good old days when all we had to choose from were plastic masks with the elastic strings.

Basically Cinderella or Superman...that was it...ah...simplicity!

Christmas has puked all over the shelves around here.

ALREADY.

I empathize with you. I’ve not been in a store (other than for groceries) for MONTHS now so I don’t have to SEE this kind of thing any longer … but I recall walking in a department store a couple of years ago for a Halloween thing in October and being told they were sold out but that CHRISTMAS items were available. It just seemed wrong somehow …

GREAT post. Yes...this is why I do NOT take Sugar shopping anymore. sigh.....

is it Halloween yet, mama? argh....

I must say, you really do have to hop on the costumes early. Marketers, they can't extend the season long enough!

My kids have been begging for their costumes already. But I've learned my lesson. If I buy them now, I'll have to buy more because they will change their mind.

At least you got a cute jack o lantern!

We are sooooo quirky that its always semihalloween here (more on that @ miz today. Short version? It's TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY!)

And even *I* am surprised when I see the costume out in stores in august.

Isn't the marketing push crazy - and a little insulting, too, given that stores apparently think we won't buy anything unless it's related somehow to a holiday. It's gotten to the point where I refuse on philosophical grounds to buy winter holiday merchandise until after Thanksgiving. Looks like Halloween is headed the same direction: no shopping before October 1. *sigh* When will marketers get it?

There's already Christmas stuff out. They completely ruin the season by selling so early.

I work retail and we just put up our Christmas tree on the weekend. My employer thinks that he will sell all of his Chrismas at 100%, instead of marking a third of it down. Instead he has a lot of weary and pissed off customers who are reluctantly still buying Christmas admidst rumbles. Strange.
