"Put that down!
It will break!
It will break!"
It broke.
Shards of glass dust tiny toes,
and the air reeks of my irritation.
I taste bitter words.
"I just get nervous," she says.
I'm cut.
She sounds so much like the worst of me.
Studies show that Obsessive Compulsive disorder has a strong genetic component. Studies scare the shit out of me.

i understand you....
Oh, those painful times when we are less than perfect.
I'll bet she has the best of you too.
And that you understand is a gift oh.. and a curse.. like everything eh?
Be easy on yourself Mama Zen. Big hug.
yea, same here. kills me.
much love to you mama. I'm sure she has so much of the best of you. hugs.
Yes, me too. When it was clear that I had OCD, no one was too surprised - my father had it as well.
Now, with my children I can see different issues in both of them. At times it makes me want to cry - I know how hard it can be to live with.
I see my weakest most vulnerable side play so loud and clearly out in my daughter. scary shit.
We all lose our temper every now and then. Just give her a great big hug!
Ahh...the self-fulfilling prophecy. One example in my life was when I was helping my mom put away groceries. I was putting up cans and she admonished me to be careful because she had bread rising underneath that cabinent....the next thing I did was drop in a can! And another time, she told me to be careful with my double scoop ice cream cone...the next moment, the top scoop had fallen off.
Would these things have happened anyway? I'll never know, but it is frustrating for all involved.
