A gathering of soccer moms making small talk and waiting for their little girls to finish another interminable evening soccer practice:
Mom #1 - fed her kids pizza in the minivan because her little girl had to go directly from jump rope club to soccer. After soccer, her son goes to baseball. No one has been home yet.
Overhead, power lines crackle. Are our brains being fried?
Mom #2 - A stay-at-home mom. According to her husband, she is lucky that she gets to stay home and enjoy all of the nice weather we're having. The five year old on the soccer field and the toddler at her feet suggest that she probably isn't getting to spend her days sunbathing and drinking margaritas.
The school will be holding an intruder drill tomorrow. The kids will be taught how to duck and cover. Nice.
Mom #3 -Embarrasses herself by inadvertently revealing that she's not really listening . . . much. Instead, she is silently berating herself for the string of curse words she unleashed during the "these shoes pinch my toes" fiasco and thinking of all the useful things she could be doing instead of standing under the power lines losing brain cells.
Two more months of soccer. Shit.

I so hope my kid shows zero interest in soccer.
I can so relate;)
It was really cute . . . for about five minutes!
Hoping mine prefer random neighborhood games with friends to schedules and teams.
Oh no! Princess has her first soccer practice tonight!
My kids are playing t-ball this spring but I've got a feeling there will be many similar conversations occurring...hopefully not under crackling power lines though!
Geez, you really make me want a lot more years before WW gets older enough to play in YAFL or in junior wrestling. Oh what wonderful moments I have to look forward to standing with the other parents. ;) hehehehe...
Sounds alot like my soccer practice. Moms like #1 drive me especially crazy. Let a kid have some down time!
Ah yez ... the things you do for love ;--)
Hugs and blessings,
I never talk to the parents at my kids sports. I just pretend to be really really absorbed in playing ring around the rosie 9000 gazillion times with my 3 yo. It's better for everyone that way.
oh man....you just popped my Soccer Mom bubble. thanks......
tee hee
Honestly, it could be worse. Contemplating the upcoming 9:00 am game on Saturday kind of put me in a crabby mood.
