When my mom was in nursing school, her class motto was "F.I.D.O." It stands for "Fuck It, Drive On." That information was not emblazoned on the class picture.
I've always been a slow down and gawk kind of person. If there is a nine care pile up on the highway of my life, I hit the brakes so that I can take in all of the gory details. Even fender benders get a nice long perusal. I just have to look . . . and look . . . and look.
Sure, when you screw up, a little analysis may be in order. Learning from one's mistakes can be a great tool for self-improvement. However, if you're wallowing in self-flagellating reflection, you're just being a tool.
Fuck It, Drive On.

Methinks I'd like your mom as much as I enjoy you and your blog. This is such excellent advice ;--)
Hugs and blessings,
Hey, wait a minute! I'm the queen of self-flagellating reflection. I thought I was going to get some kind of prize for that. Sigh!
Hmmm. A story untold.
Oh I'm guilty of wallowing in self-flagellating reflection. I just never knew what to call it before.
I like that- gonna have to add it to my mantras. Thanks for sharing that with us :)
Love it...that's a keeper!
Hey Mana Zen, have you checked Her Accessories yet? I think you won something...
Love it. I might claim it as my own, if you don't mind.
It took me many years to realize that I do not have to punish myself for making a mistake. You are right. You have to move on past it....
Definitely love it. FIDO. I have to remember that one, it ranks right up there with SNAFU. ;)
Pearls of wisdom . . .
Not a bad slogan.
