"Mama, what is my number," she asks.
"Four," I reply. "You are four years old."
"What's next?"
"Five."
"And, what's next?"
"Six."

Oh, my impatient little darling, let's just be four for a while!
Be 4 - you realize that I don't know everything, that I'm imperfect, that I'm not really heroine material.
Be 4 - you think that you're "too big" for hugs, for kisses, for being squeezed so hard that it's as if I'm trying to take you back inside of me.
Be 4 - the innocence slips from your eyes, and you slip from my hands out into the world.
Let's just be four for a while. Four is my favorite number.

We want our kids to grow up and be independent but then they grow up and are independent.... I'm off to hug my three kiddos whether they like it or not!
I love this very unique entry!
Thanks, Summer!
And, hug them tight Mom of 3!
What a awesome post! Very creative and so so true. You are going to make me cry...
Thank you, Boogiemum!
awwwwwwwwww that is fabulous. I love it soooooo very much. Very creative and sooooooooo true!
Yep-at this age we're Wonder Woman...too bad it can't stay that way!
Four is my favorite number too.
I don't have much experience with 4 year olds. I imagine it will be so much fun though.
Oh! Nice one. Love the play on words.
I liked the play on words and your wisdom in it. We have a precious but short time before they grow too old for us, don't we? My little one is struggling with the idea of being "grown up" - someimes she wants to be and sometimes she doesn't - and I tell her she is just right as she is and always will be.
I love this!
great post. i love the way you put it...just be your age and love it. that's all we can do.
What a fantastic post! I loved it...all of it. Sometimes it seems they wish their lives away, doesn't it? I am forever wishing they would stop growing too.
Fabulous, just fabulous.
Thanks, everyone!
Beauttful.
Right now thee is my favorite number. :)
You reminded me that when we're little, we always want to grow up faster, too. It's not just a mom problem!
Thanks for participating, and thanks for taking the time to slow down!
I'm always amazed by how our daughters are so similar! Amara's favorite numbers are always what age she is. And she is so looking forward to turning five -- and she just turned four! Why can't she just enjoy now?
Yes, isn't it great to be a heroine. I hope to keep that for as long as I can. I think you lose it for a bit, but know that I am a mom, my mom is my hero all over again.
Simpmle but very sweet. I'd give you a hug if I could.
Baby Puppy seems to be taking these huge leaps toward independence. Sometimes, it's hard to resist the urge to try and hold her back.
aww, I love this post! So sweet, and so very true...my oldest just turned 3 and growing way too fast for me. It's exciting and sad all at the same time.
It IS exciting, but so fast!
My daughter is 4-I wish I could freeze her like this-so cute, cuddly, hilarious, inquisitive-the list is endless!
Love those 4 year olds!!
You said it, Jill!
