Thanks Mom!
For
enduring pregnancy's nausea,
backache,
and feet swollen twice their size.
For
hundreds of sleepless nights,
thousands of dirty diapers,
and nipples cracked and sore, but still offered.
For
stories read "again, again,"
and songs sang "one more time!"
For
taking down the beautiful canopy bed because it scared me,
and inventing monster spray thirty years ago.
For
talking and listening,
patiently,
then and now.
And,
for all the other stuff that I don't even know I'm grateful for . . . yet.
Happy Birthday, Mom!
