A Letter To My Daughter

Little One,

If I had to describe my life before you
I would say. . .

Blank pages
in a book
waiting to be filled
with your laugh
your smile
your touch.

Blank pages
that I tried to fill
with work
with things
with this
with that.

Blank pages
that I didn't
even know
were empty.

For the Group Writing Project at Mama Blogga.

What a beautiful letter. I actually have some blank books I'd gotten with the intention of writing my kids' stories. You've inspired me to get going on that! Thanks :)

Very sweet! Definitely true. I had my first child at a young age and at first was scared to death. Once she was here I understood that there was a reason she is here and she has made me a much better person.

This is so wonderful! I loved your poem; I even tried (very clumsily) to convey the meaning to my husband later as proof that things were going well for the group writing project.

Thanks so much for participating!

I LOVED this! yes...very much. I have a post on my blog titled, "A look at Priorities..." and it conveys this very same thought. Yours is better though. :)

Oh man... you hit that right on the money.

Especially the line, "Blank pages that I didn't know were empty."

I can't tell you how many times I've thought that.
